Can a .22 caliber pellet gun at 600 fps kill a squirrell. what is a good bait to use for squirrels?

i just bought a .22 caliber crosman 2260 bolt action co2 pellet gun at 600 fps. with eun jin heavy 28.6 grain pellets it emmits about 26 foot pounds of force uppon impact. is this enough? what is a good squirrel attractant that you can make at your house?Can a .22 caliber pellet gun at 600 fps kill a squirrell. what is a good bait to use for squirrels?
Squirrels require 3 ft-lbs of impact energy.(1) (That works out to 307 fps with a 14.3 grain .22 caliber pellet.) Your Crosman 2260 is more than capable of delivering that level of energy out to beyond 40 yards.(2) However because of the low muzzle velocity and poor trajectory, you'll probably want to limit your shots to 25-30 yards since pellet drop would start affecting accuracy beyond that.





As for the 26 ft-lbs of muzzle energy... I kinda doubt it unless you've had the gun converted to use high-pressure air instead of co2. The reason I doubt it is you're assuming you'll see 600 fps with those heavy pellets, which is extremely doubtful. (Even if you did the energy figure would be 22 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, not 26 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.) The 600 fps rating comes with 14.3 grain pellets, which means the 2260 actually has 11 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.(3) I really doubt that the 2260 will get much beyond 420 fps with Eun Jin heavies.Can a .22 caliber pellet gun at 600 fps kill a squirrell. what is a good bait to use for squirrels?
if you hit them in the head yes, it might kill some and it might just stun others. Bread and nuts are good bait for squirls, open yards with spread out trees tend to yield the most squirrels
well i was taught a neat little trick get two quarters and rub them toghether sounds like a squirel is eating a nut.
mabye if you shoot its head


cuz thats fast for an airsoft gun
do not kill squirrels.
